With over 20 years experience in communications, Jan Smith brings a wide range of expertise to her clients.
After earning a Master's degree in Journalism, she went to work as a feature writer at Ziff-Davis Publishing's PC/Computing magazine. In 1993 she moved to ZDNet and the online world.
As Director of Marketing at Fidelity Investments, she managed educational content for participants in retirement savings plans, developing websites and creating targeted educational campaigns for both print and email distribution.
Jan also spent several years writing scenario-based eLearning and instructor-led training for several Fortune 500 companies.
All of this means that Jan knows how to tell a story effectively. She knows how to organize and display content on the web so that users can easily find what they're looking for. She knows how to create targeted communications that speak directly to a reader's needs and concerns. And she knows how to organize and manage a team of people to achieve a common goal.
Throughout her career, regardless of the tools that she's used, she has never lost sight of the primary goal: to communicate a message clearly and effectively.
She is a member of the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club and the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. She volunteers at the Chicago Botanic Garden as an interpreter in the English Walled Garden and the Plant Conservation Science Center.
